My Frist Tele

Thie is the second guitar I have built, but my first tele style.
Started in October 09 and finished April 10.
The massive ammount of information and guidence on this forum helped me overcome problems and stop mistakes before they happened. Thanks.
A mix of styles.
Iroko body.
Maple fingerboard.
Ash neck.
Cutdown scratchplate.
Vintage bridge.

Body shape cut and hollowed.

Cap glued on.

Neck cut and shaped. The original plan was to have a one piece ash neck, but after some advice here I planed off the fingerboard and glued on a maple one.

Back of neck.

Planed off.

Maple glued on.

Fingerboard trimming.

Neck fitted.

Mahogany dots fitted.

Cavities drilled and routed.

Chopped scratchplate.

Sprayed blue. I then sprayed laquer which went horribly wrong, patchy and yellow. I sanded it back and applied varnish by brush.

Hours of polishing!!

Assembly.

The finished guitar.

I love this grain.

Sounds great too.

Great work, could you tell us what spray and varnish you used?

Yes the dots are a little big, but I only had a 10mm cutter.

The paint and laquer was a leading brand which you can buy in most DIY stores and begins with P,( not wanting to badmouth anyone!) The blue coat went on really well, so I thought i'd better use the matching laquer and it reacted badly.
Might just be me!

The varnish was a water based hardcoat designed for floors. 10ish coats then wet and dry and polish.
