Two new projects

made templates today for two new projects - the first outings for two new models - the tele-like 'holly' and a lapsteel based on my 'deco' designs

the holly will most likely be an esquire version. im thinking baby blue with white binding. but it might change. bodies alder, neck maple/rosewood (shock horror!!!)

lapsteel has rippled sycamore core with limba/walnut sides and walnut board (will have maple 'frets' and markers

Love that headstock shape in the first pic. I've been thinking of something similar.

alder blank is gluing up now.

bit of work on the lapsteel. the wings need thicknessing (a LOT!!!) but this is what it will look like. with a board. and a walnut tailpiece. obviously.

lapsteel sides have been thinned down to size. but it doesnt look any different to the last pic so theres not much point in another

holly has binding (not trimmed yet), pickguard cut, neck pocket, neck (no pic yet) and control cavity cut.

The headstock is absolutely stunning. Good stuff, very nice design. Are you a designer or engineer by trade? I can see you have some CAD skills too.

no im neither of those things and have never done anything like that. i have a theatre degree hehe

and the only reason i ever did anything on cad is because i wanted my pickups engraving at bare knuckle and it was going to cost a fortune for the place they use to draw it out, so i downloaded a free program and did it myself in about 20 minutes.

VERY cool designs

Both the guitar and lap steel look EXTREMELY cool. I was going to guess you had significant training/background in graphic and/or industrial design. I can't wait to see how they both turn out. Keep up the good work!

I like it a bare, or simple fretboard myself. That's a very tasteful design. Are you gonna put markers on the top of the fretboard?
