Great work Gil, I hope you do decide to show the relicing process, not so much how you do it, but a step by step progress of each step, I'd really like to see how each step adds up to the finished product.

aaaaaannnnd, happy belated birthday to you :-P

Gil not that it's visible, but adds to the "relic-ing", are you going to dirty up or age the pickup control cavities as well?
Give them that 50 years of never cleaned out on the finish?
I'd leave that to the owner and the next 50 years of playing (-;

Yes. about 30-40% More.
Lesters have a thicker coat than most pre-CBS Fenders.

Thanks Gil, and thanks TDPRI for doing any 4/1 tricks someplace else !!!!!

I understand your concerns about showing relicing process, but here's another vote for at least showing the results along the way, even if you don't show yow you got it there. It would help many of us understand what we are looking at when we look at other guitars.

I use a 2.5 HP compressor. It's not small but nut very big either.
It's perfect for guitar finishing.
It's an Italian made Fimi.
The gun... get the most expensive HVLP you can afford... but make sure it matches the compressor (volume and pressure)

And don't forget to buy a water/oil trap.

Fantastic, Gil. Now here is a question that may border on sacrilege. Had you given any thought to NOT relicing the guitar but finishing it the way the "parent guitar" would have looked in 1959? Seems a shame to artificially mess up some of that fine work.

I'm with you on this... But I imagine it is up to the customer?
