New secret build - code name BB

It's time to unveil the beginning of a new "secret build", with the help of a friend (a drummer) that professionally builds design furniture and his staff.

It's not just "another tele".

Canadian ash. Black, gold and white finish. Leather and metal.

The first of a progeny.

The code name is BB. You will understand.

Mauro

Interesting. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Canadian ash is heavy like concrete.

Just sayin'.

Ergo the "unveiling."

This is one of the few things I haven't DIY'ed 100% - a guitar from pieces of wood.

I'm too afraid to try my hand at building a neck, fretting it, and having it remotely playable HAHA!

I'll be watching this thread/build... maybe I'll learn enough to give it a try.

Hi JohnnyCrash, just get some wood and begin to cut and paste.

It's easier than you think!

First neck I build was so in tune and playable that I did'nt know how could I have done it (or how some "industrial" ones were made)! Just take your time.

But if you really want to learn something you'd better read also other more "instructional", complete and detailed builds (the most recent on this diy section are preeb ones, simply a pleasure to read and learn).

TDPRI is the most professionally partecipated forum on instrument building I've found on the net, pure gold to learn, people really likes to share info and help you. Best place!

The secret fretboard of BB

Today I radiused the BB maple fretboard (12") with the jig I recently build (this is the first official fretboard radiused with the jig).

It worked very well and the fretboard needed only the deepening of the fret slots and some smothing with 180 grit to my usual 600

Stay tuned for more disclosure...

This reminds me of that recent episode of The Office, where Dwight gets a bunch of pieces to an object and has to figure out what the object is.

Are you building a nutcracker?

Actually Dwight was also intending to use it to crush clams. Yum.

I loved how when he thought it was a gun, he had taped a section of it and was keeping the "barrel" attached with an elastic.

Perhaps "New Mystery Build......." might have been a better title.

You're right Jack, it's becoming a Mystery also for me...

However I've found another interesting detail taken some minutes before a RR (router run?) procedure.

The suspense is building. Fun thread. Looks good so far.

I hate routing neck pockets. Break a neck...
