Tele/Strat wiring combo

Hey All, I've got a new build with a mid pick-up and a push/pull volume pot. I've played with the wiring combinations a bit and am not real excited about everything. I mean I does sound real good, the combo's are not bad, but I'm just not there yet.
On the ACME website link listed here at TDPRI, they've got a wiring set for sale, Nashville wiring kit, that claims to have a combo i'd be interested in trying:

For three-pickup Teles (or Strats with only one tone control). This wiring is really cool, combining the best of Strat and Tele wiring. The 1/2/4/5 positions are identical to a Strat with a 5-way, but with the Tele's neck/bridge combination in position 3. Or you can think of it as the 1/3/5 being identical to a modern Tele with the Strat's 2 and 4 position thrown in for good measure. Not a bad bargain

That was copied from there add. I'd really like the neck and bridge in position 3 instead of the mid pup, but I need to know how to wire it up. The Fender wiring diagrams show the Nashville wiring like a strat with the mid pup in position 3.
Any help out their finding the wiring specs out there would be greatly appreciated.

doing a search for nashville in the tele tech section would probably bring up some diagrams.

what are you using the push pull for? With what you already have, it can be wired such that the push pull switches the function of the middle position from mid only to neck and bridge - the rest of the 5 positions remain the same.

I was using the push/pull to get the bridge with the neck and all 3 at once. Like I said, I wasn't happy with the results and I wired a couple different ways. I really like the neck and bridge together though and don't want to loose it. I need to clarify though, I am going to remove the push/pull pot and replace it with a standard split shaft 250k pot.

I rebuilt my Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster using three Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups, and added a mini toggle switch to the control plate between the volume and tone controls.

Then, I wired it like the old American Deluxe Tele, which also used three FVN pups. Old Fender American Deluxe wiring diagram.

Doing this gives the standard five Strat-O-Tone pickup combinations, while switching the mini-toggle gives all three pickups in position 4 and the bridge/neck combo (a favorite) in position 5. Old American Deluxe Tele switch & control functions.

I'm sure either Deaf Eddie and/or cc9cii have just what you're looking for in their impressive arsenals of wiring diagrams. Using their nicks in a search with keyword nashville is a safe bet - if not, perhaps one of them will be along shortly.

that would work, but it's using a 5 way 4 pole superswitch

I don't think it can be done with a standard 5-way switch. But i have been wrong once before.

you're right - the 2 and 4 positions in a normal 5 way actually make contact with the 2 discrete positions on both sides of them... another switch (say a push pull already in his possession) with the std 5 way could substitute for the mid position.

A superswitch would be more simple to use when playing, but it might require some chiseling of the control route to allow it to fit.

all you would need to do is wire the push pull to turn on the bridge pickup, so if the switch is pulled the bridge pickup is always on. the with the 5 way switch at the neck position just pull the switch to turn on the bridge pickup. with this wiring you would have the option to have all 3 pickups on at once.

The pickup combinations you describe in the opening post are those of a Schaller E-type Megaswitch.

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electron...h_E-Model.html

Here it is at StewMac's but you can find it cheaper on ebay, around ten bucks.

It gives you the best of both worlds, all the tones of a tele plus the in-between positions of a strat.

I tend to also use it in my strats... who uses the middle pickup anyway?

I prefer 5 good and easy to dial in sounds rather than having to toggle a bunch of switches, push-pulls and whatnot to acces lots of sounds, of which 80% are useless anyway.

But this is just my preference and Brian May, whose playing i love, uses just the kind of switch system I dislike...

How about this: wire the neck and bridge pickups to a standard 3-way switch and use the push/pull pot to add the middle pickup. This would give you every combination except for the middle pickup by itself.
