warmoth butterscotch plan
Hello,
I'm hoping some tele modders can help me, I have just got an RI52 which is totally beautiful,my issue is with my blonde Baja in comparison the finish is quite weak on my model, Im tempted to buy a warmoth body and try to do a nitro butterscotch job myself.... my questions are: Just how close will the warmoth body be for my Baja's neck, I'm a noob at this so if the undertaking is too great I'd be wasting time and money, is thois a feasible project? Does anyboy know of any video resources for this, searching for butterscotch on youtube doesnt yeild much that is useful? If the project is a bit much for a noob, whats my best options for getting a body done for me? thanks in advance. best regards |

I can't offer any help on your neck question, but as far as your Butterscotch question, are you looking to make your own partscaster in Butterscotch blond?
If so, there are a ton of threads here that can get you going, but keep this in mind....butterscotch was not an actual Fender color. The Butterscotch is the result of the old Nitrocellulose lacquer aging over 50+ years. Each guitar was subject to it's own aging environment which means each butterscotch color is going to be unique to that guitar, even though it may look similar to other Butterscotch aged guitars. In my humble opinion, the correct color of the 52 Reissue should have been the blond color similar to what you see as the background color to this site. I think Fender got it right with the Classic Vibe Tele. Fender turned the Butterscotch into a "color" on their 52 reissue, so they basically rewrote history a bit in my book. So, what I am trying to say is don't kill yourself looking for the "correct" butterscotch color because there ain't one. If you don't already have it, I suggest getting Nacho's "Blackguard" book. It will give you all the info you need to make yourself a "correct" early 50's Tele. |

Yeah, my baja is a great guitar except the body lacks any real defined grain and has a rather plasticy feel to the poly job on it, the neck is super though, so I would like to match it to a different body.
I wouldnt fancy going down the route of sanding and stripping a poly covered body, plus keeping it in original condition I could always match it back onand sell it as stock if need be. thanks for the replies. |
