If you have the tools you would save alot of cash by gluing up your own. I think blanks are in the $50-75 range while ash lumber is about $7 bf, so about $21 for a tele. Once you add shipping to the $75, your close to the price of a finished body. You can always take the rough lumber to a highschool and have it planed or jointed. Here's a few sources anyway.

I'm pretty sure that white ash is northern ash ,which is the heavy baseball bat stuff. Most domestic lumber yards would have that.

Swamp ash is a misleading term. The traditional Fender ash is actually black ash, but there are many suppliers selling white ash and calling it Swamp ash. White ash is pretty common, black ash harder to find.

+100 on North Ridge Hardwoods. They provided me with a one-piece alder body blank that was absolutely beautiful.

You're in NC & can't find ash? You're not trying too hard. That area is chock full of lumber dealers. I visit my cousin in Raleigh & come back with a pickup full of lumber every time. Here's a place not too far from you, good prices & good lumber.

Thanks for all the help .

Didn't say I couldn't find it bubba, just looking for best deal . On a budget with work being slow. There are guitar parts places in NC but every deal I've found is in another state. Thank to all for links. Your really looks good bubba, it's within driving distance.

Thanks again

Jack
