Ebay 45 day limit

Just a cautionary tale, if you have to open a case make sure and get 'er done within 45 days of the transaction date or you will be S-O-L!

Our old friend BarryJ shipped me a body with a control cavity that was routed with a 1.25" bit. I let him know and he offered to send me a replacement, then a day or so later I got a "push" notice from ebay asking me to give him feedback, I thought he was going to stand good for it so gave him a generic good feedback, haven't heard a word from him since. Never got around to opening a case until today to find out I missed the deadline. Checked his feedback to find the last 4 folks who bought from him never got their bodies at all, and it seems like he has folded his tent. I guess this teaches me not to try and get somethin' for nothin'

Hmm, I do have a couple PAFs with chrome covers, maybe I'll invest in a custom pickguard and cover up the messy rout....

The entire Ebay process is screwy if you ask me. last Christmas I sold a Peavey Classic 30 to a guy in California....it was in pristine condition....when he got it he must have had buyers remorse or something and filed a claim saying it was heavily damaged. I responded that the amp was in like new condition when it left and if anything was wrong the package was insured for more than the selling price. Paypal and Ebay forced me to refund his money by automatically withdrawing it from my account. He shipped the amp back there was nothing wrong with it at all. I created a new ebay account bought a few items under it and sold that amp to a guy who is extremely happy with it and has had it most of 2009 and still loves it.

Ebay is only out for themselves unfortunately.

I already started a thread about my recent bad experience selling a "black label" Fender "Squier Series" strat on ebay . . . I gave a detailed description, including a link to a thread here detailing the backstory of that model, along with many clear hi-res pics.

The guy who bought it sent it back, claiming I had misrepresented. Though I disagreed with his conclusion, I refunded his money and relisted. The next guy who bought it said in his feedback that the guitar was "better than described!"

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your ebay buyers (or your relatives, but that story is for another thread . . . .)

Now that ebay demands paypal for everything, which they also own, there's absolutely zero protection for the seller. I've been on ebay since 1999 but now, under no circumstances would I sell anything there under the current rules. I'll buy, though. Good protection for buyers (unless you miss the deadlines!)

I just bought a Wilkinson/Gotoh Bridge on ebay.
The seller discribed
"NEW High-Quality Chrome Wilkinson/Gotoh Tremolo"
"NEW Chrome Wilkinson/Gotoh Tremolo Bridge VS-100N style"

I thought this is "VS-100"

I recieved item that is not Wilkinson/Gotoh.
This bridge is "Wilkinson WVS50" "Not by Gotoh"
I missed the word "style"

I bought about $50 + shipping $10,

I'm thinking now!!
This is worth it or not?
Should I return or not?

I was just the "victim" of a seller who thought he'd go cheap with the packaging. It was my first neutral feedback. The guitar was ok, thank God, but it definitely could've been bad.

Are you serious? REALLY? This is how the guy packed a guitar? That dude deserves a plastic bottle enema or 12 G.G. Allen style.

Actually Plastic-bottles surrounded by a few peanuts and and or newspaper makes a great packing material. I have shipped and received several guitars using this method without complaints. I first wrap the guitar in bubblewrap or better yet, a gig bag.... YMMV. Etc...

I don't doubt that they help to keep the guitar from moving around. I was just surprised to see what looked like trash coming out where a guitar should be. If I had just bought this from an individual..then ok...I get that. I've shipped a couple of guitars and I know how expensive it can be. But this was a business so I guess I expected more.
But, hey, no use in looking at this as a negative. They did use recyclable bottles instead of some kind of styrofoam. So, they were just going green....right?

I had problems when I first started working with them, and I talked to one of their heads of case handling. He was a first class a**hole.
