What pickguard with tdowns blueprint?

Is there a specific pickguard I should look for to use with a body I make from the tdowns tele blueprint? '52, '62, USA, does it matter?

Not as far as outline goes. The original shaped guards all have the same outline. What occasionally differs is the hole placement, but you'll want to wait until you have both the guard and control plate placed before you start drilling, so no... no difference.

Why not cut the guard yourself?
PM if you need a trace.

Preeb, IM sent. I might do that eventually, but I was thinking of just grabbing one quickly to check my templates. I cut them out this weekend and when I placed the plan over my templates I noticed I somehow got the control plate cavity off a bit. I wanted to hold a pick guard up to see if I'm still ok or if I need to re-cut it.

PM replied. Best thing to do to get it all 100% fit is do it all yourself. It's more fun too.
Check my build threads for a Tele pg process.

again, Terry used files from Ed Hawleys CMM'd 67 as the base for the pdf. In the CNC threads Ed posted, he included the pick guard in CAD form. Terry also included the pick guard in the original .DWG CAD version used to generate the pdf. That file can be found with a search here.

If you don't have a CAD program, here's a pdf of Terry's dwg file with page 2 isolating the pick guard. With careful use of the snapshot tool, you should be able to print the guard full scale on one 8.5 x 11 sheet. It matches scaled fender pdfs extremely well.

if you're thinking of making your own bakelite single ply, Ed used xx grade garolite from mcmaster carr. If you want an 8 or 9 (muddy waters) hole, let me know and I can give you a pretty good idea of where the extra holes go.

Thanks, Casual Reader. That was very helpful. I cropped the file down and saved it as a pdf in case anyone else can use it.
