Tele Neck Shielding ???

Hey guys just a little confused - with the tele neck pickup, if I solder a link from the casing to the earth wire wouldn't that fully shield the pickup, or do I need to copper foil the rout and the pickguard ?? and if I do need to do all that - why ?
Thanks heaps everybody, any and all thoughts appreciated,
Dmondo.

The neck pickup should already have a ground to the cover. The short wire on the left going to center. No need for an extra wire.
The copper foil does make a difference and for the time and cost involved is good insurance.

hey Sheperd - your right! it is grounded, so when you say " the copper foil makes a difference "- what have you noticed ?
So I could just run a wire from the earth on the pickup to the copper foil lining the rout - right ?
Thanks heaps for this input - I'm sure it will save me time, and produce a better result as well,
Dmondo.

The foil cuts down on the hum. Here's some good info. http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/tele.php
