Show me your Esquire, Broadcaster, Nocaster, and other blackguard builds

I am planning on taking on my first build, and I think I want to build a Broadcaster. If anyone has done one, I'd like your pictures and comments.

Nice...What method did you use to age the fretboard, or is that natural wear?

I had someone spray the neck for me with a tinted nitro and they added some fingerboard wear that wasn't very convincing to me. Thin chicken scratch kind of wear. I thought I could do a better job myself so I sat down with Nacho's Blackguard book as a guide and with a lot of patience and careful sanding I think it came out pretty authentic looking.

I love these "show me" threads! This is my first homebuild! 50+ year old pine from an old shelf I found in the bottom of an old grocery store. Built with a handdrill, bandsaw, a dremel and some sandpaper.

The Blues Jr. behind was my actual first jump into wood working, solid well seasoned birch cab with some cedar front baffle pieces for "flare". Both are 100% nitro finishes.

This Esquire is SOOO resonent you can feel every vibration throughout the entire guitar. It's very cool to play and sounds awesome. The rest of my guitars now sit in wait. The output jack is hanging out in this pic because it took forever for the jackplate to show up.

I managed to get one more piece from this shelf, so I may be building another guitar someday soon. It was very fun the first time around.

From the picture, I actually thought it looked pretty good. Do you have the Blackguard book?

How'd you do the neck pocket with no router?

My dremel with one of the fast cut bits dremel offers, and two very steady hands!

I drilled a bunch of holes into each area to be routed out, making sure to stay a bit shallow with the drill bit, then went back in with the dremel to do the detail work, here's a sort of "in progress" shot

-

The neck pocket turned out great and is perfectly snug. Here's another shot of the procedure as I have just about finished up the neck pocket;

Once I was satisfied with the dremeling I went to it with some coarse sand paper and a spare chunk of wood left over from cutting out the body. I used a straight piece of metal stock layed over the top of the body, and a machinists rule to measure pocket depth. Worked out great, but a little time consuming...but for me, it was about the journey.

Yes, I actually used the Blackguard book as a reference. It has some amazing photos of detail.
