Might Mite neck question

My Mighty Mite neck just arrived.

The fit, finish, frets all look pretty good for an under $100 neck.

My question is about the neck adjustment plug. I think Fender uses walnut or something similar. The one in the Might Mite appears to be...ugh...plastic. I've looked at it under 30X magnification and I can see no wood grain but that could be because of the finish.

Doe's anyone know if, in fact, they use plastic?

I looks like when the head radius was sanded, a tiny amount of the material melted into/bonded to/stained the maple (We're talking about an area about 1mm square. To make it perfect I'm fairly sure I can scrape it down and refinish.

I know I can be a bit picky at times and I'm just not thrilled about the plastic.

If I had known, I probably would have passed but I'll console myself with knowing that it's a decent neck to start with.

I can't figure out why they would "cheap out" on the plug when wood could not possibly cost that much more.

My guess would be that it's easier to mold plastic than to cut and drill wood. Just my guess.

You won't have to worry unless someone approaches your guitar with a 30x microscope!

I know all about being picky, but really, c'mon now. For $100, you have to let it go.

I've used them on some builds........All needed some work, but so have all the other necks I have used...........Once you get it finished and playing well, I doubt it'll matter.
