It changes the dark sound to a usable sound...

remember the dark sound was to compensate for the lack of an electric bassplayer.

pretty obsolete thedse day'[s...

good luck with a fine guitar!

Hi Olaf, yes we should definitely try that soon. I am pretty jammed with work this side of Christmas, but let's try to work something out (PM me).

Tonight I am taking the Esquire to the band rehearsal with the Hiwatt. Really looking forward to firing up the treblebooster to see the sparks flying. It will be loud

Played the Esquire yesterday at rehearsal. It has amazing tone... the guitar always cut through but was sweet enough with the volume dialed back. I found a use for the 'bass' position: with some overdrive and treble booster it produced a very usable Cream 'woman sound'

Here are some pics I made today

I love watching preeb's builds! The only thing I've never understood is why he wears sandals in the shop. I'd be scared that I'd drop a tool or something on my toes and be on my butt for a few weeks.

I consider that a small sacrifice for year round comfort

guitars tend to look, sound and feel better when built in flipflops...

tis indeed a small sacrifice Marc...

we live in flipflops most of the year as well!!!

Hey Olaf, When you say flipflops... do you mean those wooden Dutch pointy tings?
I got to get me a set. Do you have a template?

Gil, this is absolutely beautiful and looks so much like the original lefty. Do you only speciliaze in vintage Fenders? Have you ever tried doing a Gibson (like a Junior)?

Thanks gregorypause,
53-57 Goldtops, 58-60 Bursts, Black Beauties, Juniors and 61 LP(SG).
My new shop is setup for Fenders which is my main "thing" right now.
I plan to triple the shop size soon and add the Gibson setup as well as a separate spray booth. Order ratio between the two is about 20:1 ... so I'm not sure where this is going in the future. We'll see.

hi Gil,

As you know, I will be the first to use your spray booth (no wait now it sounds like stepping into a shower )... anyway you know what i mean.

Also, I would be interested to work on building the ultimate LP Burst with you. Another great builder and restorer is this guy: Florian Jaeger from Jaeger guitars in Bavaria Germany.

I think my feet would get cold in flip flops in the Netherlands! I am surprised to see so much support for sandals. I can wear them all year round here in California, so I guess I will give it a try on my next project.

In the meantime, looking forward to seeing how Preeb handles some Gibson-style operations and challenges once he's got the shop expanded!

WOW! Looking forward to this. I did not dare ask about Les Paul Goldtops/Bursts/Black Beauties because I figured that making a guitar with a carved top must be quite different from making flat top guitars. Plus I am more enamoured with Les Paul Juniors and Specials anyway.

As for your workmanship: I am no vintage guy by any stretch of imagination but your attention to detail never fails to impress me!

Hi all,

Man on man ... I am a total newby here and a drummer to boot {but please don't hold that against me :) } I am a tele lover however and try and play however badly it may be...

Gil, Your intruments take my breath away. You are truly amazing. My mind boggles at your dedication to not letting a die art disappear forever like so much has now been lost over the years. Your passion and obesession to detail would be the end for most of us.

You my friend are an astisan in the true sense of the word. Hopefully you will be able to get an apprentice worthy of your knowledge and skill and be able to pass it on so your name and instruments will live on for future generations to enjoy!

Many kind regards,
Max

BTW ... A tad off topic ... I was looking at the Luther Perkins 55 Esquire that was recently auctioned and grabbed some screen dumps and put together in hi res 7080x 2355... Here is a smaller version... If anyone would like it I can email it ... Hope you like it Gil. I think it is a pretty cool guitar.

You are short 2 Teles the way I see it.

A run of the mill 2 PUP maple neck tele with Budz Pups or something.
A NashVille Tele Hod rod, mini humbucker neck Fralin Blues Start middle with a snarly bridge PUP.

Sorry, just thinking aloud in type.....

I am so taken back by Preeb's builds, they take my words away any time I see them. There is a little part in me that says "One day maybe, a Gil Yaron might make its way to Sydney C/O Robbied_216....."
