Just Finished A Partscaster

Just finished this guitar, apart from some tweaking. Bits have come my way over the years starting with the neck, an Ibanez that I got on it's own in about 1985, and I've had some parts on other guitars. I finally decided to put them all together, so I got a body mail order. It was advertised as 'Amber', but when it arrived it was 'Orange', quite a disturbing orange as well, so I sprayed it with some car paint.

I got my drill out today and put it together and it all seems to fit! The wiring was half done from another guitar, but I decided to have a stab at soldering for the first time. It seemed every wiring diagram I could find was different, so in the end I just guessed what went where, not really expecting it to work, but it does! Fired up first time!

Nice partscaster. What do you have for parts on it?

Looks great! What color did you use? Is that Duplicolor Santa Fe Tan, by chance? I just finished a guitar body in that color, and yours looks very similar.

Nice Tele and I like the colour. I did a similar thing where I gutted an Ibanez RG, used the Dimarzio parts and sold the body and neck.

Thanks, I'm really pleased with it, yesterday a box of bits, today a real guitar!

The colour is Triumph 'Honeysuckle'. I think Triumph went out of business in the '80's. The colour is actually a bit different in the flesh , a nice creamy blonde.

Can't tell you much about the parts, the neck and tuners are Ibanez Roadstar II. I reshaped the headstock, and squared off the heel end. The neck pup is a Peavy, the bridge, I bought secondhand as a Fender, probably 1980's. The bridge, control plate and electrics are unbranded from a shop (USA electrics). The body is also unbranded.

The only bit I messed up was the ferrules. I don't have a drill press so they came out wonky, the big drill bit drifted a bit and cracked the finish a little bit around them. Still it's on the back so you can't see them!

Just found out about Photobucket, but still needs some refining! I wondered why the pics were so poor. Still isn't this colour though.

Excellent job Booger! What parts did you use in terms of p/ups,pots etc? Very nice finish. I'm putting mine together in the next week or so, like yours on the left of photo. Believe it or not, it has been too cold, damp and humid here in South Australia to get a finish on and dried! Now you need another project, do you have anything in mind? Cheers. Tonetele.
