Drill Guide ?

Anybody use something like this for building?

I'm considering one for tuner holes, neck mounting, string thru body, etc...

Craftsman Drill Guide

I have a need to drill the occasional plumb hole but have no need to buy a drill press (or space for one) ...

It's gotta be better than freehand.

For $10 more, this would be better.

For $12 less, this would be better.

With the first option above, you could mount it like this and actually drill string through holes.

That does look a lot better...

I need to figure out if my trusty antique Milwaukee corded 3/8" will fit...

It looks as if it's made for a Dremel type tool, which I also don't have.

Same link as door #1...

I've seen those at Rockler.

You know........... I think you're right. It does look like it's built for a Dremel tool. Sorry about that.

Here's one from Amazon for $36.45 and free shipping that will hold a 3/8 in. drill.

On further review, I'd really like something like this that works with a trusty old

It's not as if I'm in a hurry or need to drill lots of plumb holes...

Just a few every now and again.

Claudel,

I have the same thing. I wouldn't recommend it. It did OK but not great. The other recommendations would be much better. For a few bucks more, you have something usable. I wouldn't do string throughs again with it which means that it was wasted money. An all-too-common occurrence when you go for the cheapest solution, I'm afraid.

You'd think I'd have learned that by now.

I hear ya.

I just don't want to have a drill press sitting around for the ten holes a year I'll need it for...
