Real quick jack cup question

Hey all, just a quick matter I wanted to check with you guys on. I couldn't find the exact answer to this on a search, so I thought someone would be able to steer me in the right direction. I am trying to figure out the depth for the metal anchor tab for a traditional tele jack cup. I was wondering if the metal tab goes right next to the cup when installed, or whether the cup was sandwiched between the two nuts and the tab sits behind the nut and before the actual jack itself. Hopefully that makes sense, then I'll plan to measure that distance and insert away!

Thanks!!!

I'm no expert but this is how I did mine.
I placed one nut on the outside and one behind the mounting plate.

Check out this post for photos and a little more info.

If you're talking about the jack ferrule retainer clip, the ends of that clip need to be pushed forcibly into the wood. That would be difficult to do without a specialized tool like this. And that tool is made to force the ends of the retainer into the wood as well as get it installed at the correct depth in the hole. So with the right tool you don't need to figure out how deep in the hole to put the clip. I have one of those tools and it works like a charm.

I'm not sure my question came off clearly...I am wondering which layer of the "sandwich" the second nut is. The first goes outside, then the cup...It's whether the nut or the clip is next that I'm wondering. I know it's a stupid question, but I tend to obsess over little details like that.

Thanks again!
