Anyone Seen This Bridge For Sale In The US?

This bridge closely resembles the top-load bridge I'm trying to replace on my Telecaster. The only thing is, I've only found this one for sale in the UK and between the shipping and exchange rate, the cost ends up being more than I want to spend.

I haven't found anything else that's as close to this bridge for sale in the US, but maybe someone here knows where I can find one of these for a little cheaper than what ordering in the UK will cost.

BTW, if anyone has a favorite 3-screw top load bridge that they think I should be looking into instead, I'm all ears.

Looks like a 1983 Tele elite saddles and bridge fenders first american standard tele

I put a standard 3 saddle bridge with holes drilled from Glendale to replace it

I had to drill holes in the wood but you just line it up where the old bridge was it works perfect

Jamon, thanks for the help but I'm looking for more of a replacement than a mod (i.e. I'm trying to avoid drilling). In fact, I actually only need to replace the saddles as the bridge itself is fine.

BTW, here's a close up picture of the bridge I'm looking to replace:

Funkybot,

I have this exact same bridge on my MIJ 1985 Tele. Yours is the only other one I have seen.

I would be interested to know the availability of these things as I don't mind top loaded strings. The 4 screw-string thru body seems to be the standard though.

I see those bridges come up on ebay from US sources, but they aren't as frequent as other more popular types. The saddles that come on the ones I've seen appear to be fairly lightweight, non-magnetic and I'm guessing they are zinc/potmetal. They aren't identical to the Elite saddles that came on Elite shorty bridges (Tele and Strat) and on the early '80s revised standard Tele long bridges. The Elite saddles have a more full shape.

I bought a new bridge like that, and cut some American Standard/Series saddles down to make my own because I wanted some a little more solid and with a look closer to the Elite style. Here's the bridgeplate with the saddles I made. I used three LH saddles and three RH saddles to make these.

Here's an ebay ad for a new bridge, unfortunately gold is the only finish this dealer is advertising now. But if you search ebay regularly, more in chrome are likely to show up.

Real Fender bridges with the real Elite saddles show up used on ebay very infrequently and are usually rather pricey.

Funkybot, why do your saddles need to be replaced? What model Tele or bridge is that? Do your saddles appear to be zinc/potmetal, or are they more solid like steel? I'm guessing yours is one of the CIJ or MIJ Teles, they use that style and are toploader only. The bridges I see on ebay are dual loaders and the string through holes are way down near the bottom of the bridge, a string hole placement shared with the Mighty Mite 2112 bridges which use different saddles.

Gascat,

I was told when I bought the tele that the body was believed to be from a MIJ Tele, so that kinda makes sense. The neck, however is from an American Tele, so I don't have much other info on this guitar.

Yegbert,

Thanks for that eBay auction (I've been searching eBay regularly for a few weeks but never saw that listing)! The seller claims to also have a chrome version available so I sent in a question about that.

The reason I'm looking to replace the saddles is because some of them are a little torn up. For instance, I can't adjust the height on the low E string because only one of the screws works.

How about this one? I don't think it's for sale, though.

I bought a similar bridge on eBay from a US source. The model I have works as either a top loader or a string through, which was what I was looking for. The saddles themselves feel cheap and it does make me wonder what the guitar would sound like with more substantial saddles. I probably could not tell the difference, but one still wonders...

It's a great sounding bridge made of thick Chromed Steel.
I think I got a couple left in storage. I'll check real quick...

Nice looking bridge setup, Fred. T.

I don't understand why GraphTech makes saddles in a shorter 13.3mm length and lists them for the Elite Tele, and also makes those in the longer 20.7mm length and lists them for the Elite Strat. I thought the longer ones would have been closer to the original Fender spec for both guitars and would seem to work fine for either. The shorter ones might be useful if you were designing a bridge and wanted to make it shorter than the original Fender Elite and Revised Standard bridges.

The stated width is the same at 10.41mm, which in this case appears to actually mean width, but for the 6-barrel type they apparently use it to refer to the diameter of the barrel. Confusing.

You can get them in white (Tusq) or black (String Saver).

Longer ones fit the top loader and string thru design perfectly.
