body blank weight

I have a piece of hard ash (northern?) that has been planed to 1-3/4" and is roughly 22" x 14". It weighs a shade over 15lbs. My question is what does a normal blank of alder or ash weigh? Trying to figure how much it will weigh roughly after making it into a tele body.

you'll probably get slammed for asking about weight, but someone, I think Terry Downs put up a formula for determining weights for known woods and dimensions. Do a search.

Here is a Tele volume calculation I did a while back.

The board-foot is a specialized unit of volume for measuring lumber in the United States and Canada. It is the volume of a one foot length of a board one foot wide and one inch thick. The routed Tele body is 1.848 foot-boards. Simply ratio the volume of your blank in foot-boards to 1.848 and you will get the finished weight. If you need help let me know.

Even easier. 22 x 14 x 1.75 = 539 cubic inches which is you blank volume. A Tele is 266.098 cubic inches as shown above. 266.098/539 = 0.4937. So, a Tele is 49.37% of your 15 lbs which would result in 7.41 lbs.
