Attempting first build....humbucker questions

Getting close to starting my first partscaster. I've got a Warmouth Thinline body with conventional neck pickup routing. I plan on re-routing for a mini-humbucker. I'll be using a '69 RI style pickguard and will have to enlarge the pickup cut-out and use a trim ring around the humbucker. The bridge electronics will be vintage 3 saddle.

Can the pickup be mounted to the pickguard ala '69 RI, or should the humbucker be secured to the body? Advantages? Disadvantages? Three positions are just fine with me. Is the humbucker wired just like a standard style Tele neck pickup?

I don't want to get into any fancy wiring or have to replace any electronics...the only change will be the neck pickup. I'll be using the controls and switch from a MIM.

I want to KISS (keep it simple stupid).....

Thanks in advance....

Tom

Yes to the pickguard if your pick up has tags for screws and yes you can wire it up as a straight tele , good luck Tom
