My Esquire Build! Got Some Progress!
Hey all, a few pics seems i started my esquire last night - don't get too excited its a partscaster, i don't even own a router haha but i think it will turn out nice.
I rushed into buying th eneck, i got a little excited on ebay and didn't read the specs properly, so its actually a 10" radius, whereas my MIM is 9.5 - not a lot of difference but definately feels squarer. I'm going to bare with it for the moment and put some fat frets on it and see how it feels - save buying another neck right away anyway... I really can't decide on a black guard or white, i took some crappy phone pics, the body is a really yellowy butterscotch but it looks a bit washed out in teh pics... Maybe you guys could give me some input. Bear in mind i've got an ashtray bridge for it this one is just for the pics... I'll keep you posted! Ok so things are at a halt due to shipping woes so I've had a bit of time to think. I've decided to use the gfs 60s hot pickup in this one with a black guard. I'll keep you posted, when my carrier pigeon arrives with bits LOL

Ok, so last night i cut my own scratchplate, went with 3mm thick acrylic for that glassy look. I also fitted it, my neck bridge and control plate, so heres some pics!

Oh, i forgot to mention. The catalogue i looked through at my local store said those bridge saddles were brass, but when it came they are obviously plated... So i'm looking into perhaps buying some taps and having a crack at making my own saddles...
Also i used these old style brass screws for the scratchplate and control plate, originally they were going to be temporary until i get some others - but i dig em now they're all on there. Should look great with some brass saddes! I was also quite pleased with my first scratch plate attempt! I would have my gotoh vintage tuners on there as well last night, except the holes in this budget neck are too big - so i'm either going to dowel and re-drill or shim the holes out slightly... hmmmm |

Looks great. Personally I prefer the white but it's good to have variety. Never apologise for a partscaster either!
