Here are a couple more

Now just have to put it all together.Tonight I am going to have to bite my lip because the recipient asked me to come practice a few songs he wants to sing Sat night.
Still not sure how I am going to give it to him

Got a bit more done before I had to go practice with the victim tonight
HEre is how she sits till morning.Neck is done, pickups, bridge, finished.Only got 4 strings on before I had to go though

Here is the neckplate. This thing is hard to photo

Now for the funny part.
Clif(the victim) asked if I had any of my other builds, other than what I had there tonight, that I could bring and let people see.I thought it was a bit ironic

Marty-That is one gorgeous build. You are truly an artisan.
I am very impressed and I am sure the recipient will truly be touched by your effort and consideration. Nice job, man.

I know this is a huge request but if you could get someone to do pics when you give it to him that would be awesome. We would all love to see his reaction.-g

That's going to be a tear-jerker of a presentation!
It's F'n BEAUTIFUL! and the neck-plate and decal are amazing! If you're not a millionaire in what ever you do,you're way underpaid! You're brilliant!
Can you video it so we can see the guys face when you give it to him?PLEASE!

Ever notice when you don't have a lot of time to spare, small things just happen. That Murphy guy needs a kick in the .......
After I got the strings on,I went to set the saddles just so I can tune it to pitch and check the truss rod. These saddle screws have a little slot to adjust them.It seems one had been pinched or something and the slot had been squeezed shut.No problem,I pulled it out and slide a utility knife blade into the slot to open it back up.Good idea, not.
The one side of the slot broke off

Good thing these saddle screws are a standard thread size. The problem is I don't have any here with slots, just allen heads,so I guess I will have to change them all.Nothing major, just a pain

This Tele is going to be in their family for generations to come. They are going to take it out every anniversary and play on it. A true family relic (but in mint condition ).

Wow!
Marty, you are one of the coolest human beings around! Can't wait to see the finished guitar.

As for the presentation, you might wait until you play a few songs and then say, "Oh, wait. I forgot that I have another guitar in the car." and then go get it. Then hand it to him and say, "I want you to play this one."

Does it have a case or gig bag?

Well here she is
All finished

Just a few minor things to finish up.Dress up the nut a bit.I need to file the top down because the strings are sitting down in it too far,a final polishing before we take it to the ceremony and thats about it.

How does it sound,it is a twang machine. Thanks again to e-merlin for the bridge pickup.I'm almost tempted to pull it and keep it
I just wired it to the typical tele wiring on the resources page,a .001uf and a .047uf Orange drop and a 3 way

That's a thing of beauty, Marty. Glad that pickup worked out. I've got another one just like it here at home waiting for me to get tired of the stock one in my Esquire. That may happen pretty soon, now.

Can't wait to see the presentation. He's going to be overjoyed.

Thanks again for all the kind words and comments
I just cant wait for Saturday night.Seeing the look on his face will make it all worth it.
Now,I still have to figure out just how to give it to him.At the practice the other night,he was getting very discouraged. His hearing has really deteriorated in the last few years. He was having a lot of trouble singing.I actually felt really sorry for him because he loves to play and sing.
As for pictures,I have got a secret camera man lined up.He is going to video the presentation so I am hoping to post it after the weekend(if I figure out how )
OK,off to my real job

How did I miss this thread?!!
I'm on here every day and never saw this one.

Marty what an awesome gesture!
Can't wait for the presentation pics.

I'd suggest during one of the sets, you walk over to him while he's playing, and cut a string.

"It's OK, It's OK! I've got a backup here for you to use..." ;)
