Holy calender shot! Seriously, if I was artsy that'd be my desktop.

Guess I'll just have to use the sunburst pics...

Marty, what everyone else has said x 100. That is a nice neck plate and decal. Nice burst, too!

What an absolutely fantastic thing to do, that's enough to make a full grown man break down and cry in front of you...which he probably will do.
You are truly a great person and your friends must be very proud of you.

EDIT....as I was typing this, the above post beat me to it...ref. the crying thing.

Looks amazing. But, I wish you had stopped with the black only on the sunburst. That looked amazing. Like a LP junior.

Awesome Marty! God gave you the "Gift", and now you are passing it along in the form of an heirloom which I'm sure will be fondly treasured. Truly inspired and just stomp down gorgeous to gaze at! Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see the "AnniversaryCaster" when she's wearing her new clothes!

Thanks again for the great comments.
What do you guys think I should put in it for pickups. Not really sure if it will ever get played a lot,but still I don't want to put junk in it.I was thinking on the lines of maybe some Fender noiseless?Would like it to be nice and quiet when it does get used.Am I wrong or should I go with regular singles?Tough call.Whatever I decide I better do it quick.I need to get them ordered.
Suggestions?
Thanks again

My thoughts are to use a good regular pickup, but I'm kind of funny that way; set it and forget it. That will fit the vibe of this guitar, being a traditional looking Tele, and a potential family heirloom. You know that regular Tele pickups will stand the test of time.

Well today being my last day off for 10,I better get my poop in a group

Anyway, the nice thing with this water based lacquer is the dry time.I have a few coats over the decal so I give it a wet sanding to knock down the edges before I carry on with the clear.

The edges are pretty much gone. Now just a few more coats of clear and we should be set.

Looks great, Marty. As far as pickups go, I'd stay clear of the noiseless- standard Tele pickups would be fine. If you are giving it to an old timer, he'll likely find regular pickups to be superior (I know, I'm kind of a geezer like that myself...) They act right. Even a used set would work well, be more economical, and nobody would know the difference anyhow.

Thanks Rich
I decided to probably go with reg tele pickups.I edited my add in the "Pickups Wanted" section
After thinking about it,it probably is best to go with regular ones. This guitar needs that vintage feel.

Wow Marty. An act of grace the likes of which this world truly craves.

Of course, the smartaxx in me says, "if you can't get the twanger to the woodshed, bring the woodshed to the twanger".

Anyway, nice work and great mojo.

Well, truth be told, Marty, it was a pickup I have laying around as a spare, and I have another besides that one, simply because they are my favorite pickups. I'd probably never use it, or at least it would be a while. In the last year or so, I've decided to clean out everything that I'm not going to have time for, and I couldn't have picked a more worthy cause. I wasn't looking for any notariety, this is your project. It'll be in the mail tomorrow. I had to do some work on my daughter's car today.

You are to be congratulated.

Well I got "the bug" sanded out and some more clear on the headstock.I decided not to put any more clear on the body just yet.I have been hitting it pretty hard and it has been pretty humid here so I thought I would give it a day to make sure it was cured before I carry on.Don't want to screw it up now
