Oh man! I wish I'd thought of that first. I love the randomness, and the contrast of the different wood chips. Don't do nothing but put some clear on it. For future OSB ideas you could use sanded underlayment. Way smooth, and differnt glue-up, resulting in an almost ready-to-finish surface.

Ya got's to have a mullet to show up in public with this rig! Right on!

That has to have a natural finish .......or at least a transparant finish ........ maybe Butterscotch.........otherwise you lose the effect. I'm suprised there hasn't been a discussion of suggested pickguard colors. And no ............ you shouldn't go without a pickguard because of the beautiful grain.

I'm really thinking Butterscotch with a black guard.

Ever see 'Kirei board'

I'd like to use some of it, but it is so expensive I could use the most exotic wood you could find, and that WOOD be less ;)

I rememberd this stuff when I saw your drop top. ;)

I found a 5/4 thick x 4' long, 7-1/2" wide board of Sassafras in the shop over the weekend. Grain is very ashy, and it is beautiful!!

Marty, you've done some fine, fine projects in the past.

And you'll do some fine, fine projects in the future.

But the visual clash between the back 2/3rds of the guitar, which is beautiful and refined, and the front, which is,.... uhhh........., 'not' refined. Too much of a mismatch for my eye, I'm afeared.

Maybe a big fat slab of bark or cork or something.

Bubbanov ............... I think you're having a problem with the visual clash because of the current color tone difference between the front and back. If Marty stains the front to make it close to the color of the back I think you'll find it very visually pleasing ............... or not.

Yes,I think a bit that way too.I kinda wish I would have had some other type of wood on the back, something lighter

the WTFcaster..... my my my...and you gave me a bad time about the Antigua puke burst paint job being a bad idea...lol

So now that it is made up and routed, I guess you have to do something with it..A friend of mine did his floors and counter top in his house with that $#!^ and covered it with the 2 part epoxy clear coating that is 1/8" thick...that would be something that would fill the grain up enough IMO and think how proud you would make Nick JD...

Maybe just a hint of amber

I would use that thick goey epoxy stuff they use on bar tops! It would just add that extra pizazz to this build.

Can you please make two, to settle the age–old question:
