always late(with your kisses)

hi guys i heard pete anderson with dwight on acl last night,
they played always late by haggard and pete played the most convincing pedal steel parts with a slide. Does anyone know what alternate tuning he was using? "if any" , and if not how can i mimick the original haggard steel parts like him. it sounds like a 6th tuning of some type.
cheers

Without addressing your inquiry, I would point out, if you didn't know, that Lefty Frizzell had the original.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here... I haven't watched it for a while, but I don't think it's an alternate tuning as he is using the same tele for most of the concert. I think Pete's playing regular chords/triads on the d,g and b strings with an added sixth on the high e-string. In C that would be g-c-e-a.
There is, however, a chance that I'm completely wrong.

Hey stinger,

Let me take a minute to say that I'm proud you want to keep our traditional country music alive. Don't worry about who shot john, that will come with time. There are so many versions of songs out there.

But on that note, may I encourage you to get to know the stories behind the songs. We have a wonderful history that will stay with you a lifetime!

Please keep coming back and keep it country, traditional country that is.

I had no idea that was a Haggard tune. I love the Lefty Frizzell version, one of my favourite songs of his.

Whoops. Didn't notice #2. Sorry!
