Lookin for an instructor in Northern Virginia

Really, I'm looking for some help in unlearning some bad habits, building on my theory knowledge, building more rhythm techniques all with an eye towards Rockabilly styles. I have some ideas on what I think I need to work on, but might be all wrong!

I have played guitar on and off for 23 or so years. I took lessons twenty or so years ago but was disappointed because it seemed like all we did was transcribe songs (or mostly the teacher would transcribe them for me) and we would never examine why certain things were being played, we'd just work on playing them... so, it lasted a few months and then I drifted away.

I don't have a gigantic ego, nor do I need someone who is some famous fantastic player, but someone who can really help me with learning the musical side, more than the physical technical side.

I live in Springfield and hope to find someone close.

Oh and a sense of humor would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys for any help you can provide!

Hooes Road, Backlick Road, Old Keene Mill....

(I used to work on a trash route in that part of the county.) Last week, when I read this thread - I got all emotional because I have a lot of negativity about what I was going through at that stage in my life. I got over it, and am feeling better now. Surely, there MUST be someone around there that teaches!

Dan Leonard lives and teaches in Springfield, tours with Deanna Bogart and others. Joe Barden used DL to aid in voicing/beta testing his Strat PUs as he used Gatton for th Teles. Dan is a real nice guy, good jazzer too.
