Brent Mason Pedal Steel Lick
I came across an interesting variation on a common pedal steel lick when tabbing out a solo on Brent Mason's 'Bringin Home Good News.' In the key of D, you bend and hold the 2nd and third string a whole step as shown below, but only striking the 3rd string. Then you play the 2 notes on the 1st string, and while sustaining the last one, pick and release the silently prebent 2nd string. Release the 3rd string bend too, but don't pick it again. Produces a brief dissonance between the sixth and flat seventh of the scale you don't often hear.
