i cant figure out how to add a second guitar to hear simultaneous play. my band writes there music on tabit and it can do multiple instruments at once.
can powertabs do that also or am i limited to one guitar part at a time? any tips or suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. |

If you look at the upper tool bar(?) , you'll see several staff options. They
may be positioned under the play controls. Click on the double staff one, then it will ask you to specify wether to attach the staff above or below the current section. Whatever you tab in that staff will play simultaniously with the previously tabbed section you attach it to. I hope this poorly written explanation helps. DDK |

I use Powertab quite a lot - it's pretty good for what it is, though it has a few limitations and some annoying bugs. And of course it is free!
I think what you are asking is why you can't hear what's been entered in a second stave you have added using the method that DDK65JAG described? (Hey, I have a '65 JAG too! You have to remember activate a guitar on the second staff you added, otherwise nothing will sound. While the cursor is on the first beat of the first measure of your new stave, go to the Guitar menu and pick Setup. Click on the little guitar-shaped icon to add a new guitar - choose what kind you want it to be from the drop down menu under MIDI - nylon, steel string, etc. Click OK. Note that you can also do any tuning changes here if need be e.g. drop D, etc. Now your new guitar will show up labeled as Gtr II on the new stave. The exisiting first staff defaults to be Gtr I. BTW, if you don't like the sound of that guitar, go to the same Guitar > Setup menu, pick the tab for Gtr. I and change it using that same MIDI dropdown. If the second guitar and associated staff system is going to continue through the whole song, then you need to keep adding it, even if the guitar is resting for a bunch of bars. However, if you do it this way you don't need to keep enabling that guitar on every staff, just the first time it comes in e.g. at the begining of the song. BUT if you don't add that second staff for part of the time, and then want that second guitar to come back in, you need to again enable that Gtr. II using the same method. Hope that's not confusing. Really, if you want two guitars, best to just have the two staffs, and use rests when the second one's not playing... Also, remember if you want to add bass you should do it on the bass stave that default opens as well when you open a new file - go to the View > Bass score to see it. If you are going print everything you've transcribed, you need to open the bass View and pcik the print commend separately for it to print out. I've done a few Tele-oriented powertabs, with more to come! Here are a few: Buck Owens And The Buckaroos - Think Of Me Buck Owens And The Buckaroos - Buckaroo Marty Stuart - Till I Found You The Byrds - Jesus Is Just Alright |
