Posting tab?
I asked under forum questions, but I'll put this here also. How do you do tab so it comes out not looking wierd? I've never posted a tab example, so a brief tutorial would be appreciated.

do it in "code" tags
I'd use these tags around the example:
{code} {/code} Except use square brackets " [ " and not the ones I used . So this: {code} e -----1-----0----- b -----0-----1----- g -----0-----0----- d -----0-----2----- a -----2-----3----- e -----3-----0----- {/code} Will end up looking like this: Code:
e -----1-----0----- b -----0-----1----- g -----0-----0----- d -----0-----2----- a -----2-----3----- e -----3-----0----- |

Mickey - Thanks for replying; I thought no one would hear my cry for help. I will experiment when I get home this evening, but can you tell me this:
The actual posting window is much wider than the box you type in. For tab that is longer than the reply box, do I just need to confine myself to that box width, and manually put in line breaks when I fill that width? |

You know what?

I don't think the width of the input window matters. However, you probably should start a new line of tab every four measures or so anyway, because I wouldn't trust where the "code tag" will wrap for you, it's probably diferent on different computer screens. Now take us to skool, what's this tab all about??? I hope its for the "arpeggio" thread, I'm watching that one. |

I am trying to do what you said, but look. The chord or arpeggios names that I typed in above the staff have moved from where I typed them. For example, the first E7 with the E below it was originally typed over the first 6 on the D string. The tab itself looks about right, except the last two 7's on the tab look should not look like they are played at the same time. What am I doing wrong?
Code:
E7 A
E E D A E
------------------------------------------------------------
----------------5------------------------------------------
--------------4-----------4-------------------------------
------4-5-6-------4----6------4--7------7------6------
--7-------------------7------5-------4-7------7---------
----------------------------------------------7------5----

That's because the input window doesn't use a 'monospaced' font. You eyeballed where everything should line up and it pretty much does, but not quite. That's why using a monospaced font will make it less funky -- every character takes up one full space. Ok, this is what I'd do. (1) Write the thing out COMPLETELY in your word processor in Courier or a similar "monospaced" font that uses the same space for the letter "i" as it does for the letter "W". (2) Make sure to start a new line after a couple of measures. (3) Only when it's PERFECT in your word processor should you cut and paste into the input window. (4) Do not worry if it doesn't look right in the input window, the input window doesn't use a 'monospaced' font so it won't look right. DO NOT try to edit your tab in the "input window" because you'll screw yourself up to the point of nervous breakdown. I think I'm going to pass this along to a pro, I may be causing even more trouble than I ususally do by answering music questions. |

Thanks, Blood. I've got to go the band practice now but I'll try some more tomorrow. I cheated in that my Word Perfect has only currier new, and when I tried that and entered to start a new line, it converted to some sort of graph format. So I used something else. Wordpad has plain old currier, and I'll work with that.

Thanks, Mickey
I just posted my first tab under the arpeggios thread. Thanks a bunch - the keys were monospaced type, and to not worry about what it looks like in the reply window.
