Knopfler - Wild West End intro (tuning and riff)?

Hi Cheeseman,

Did you get any input on this? Its also stuck in my head as something I'd like to pick up. I'm presuming your talking about the steel guitar part that's played over and over throughout the song behind the chords D D Em G:

D-D-D
x-x-x
D-D-D
x-x-x
x-x-x
x-x-x

I'm guessing it's in some open tuning and maybe capo'd by nature of the ending of that riff line in the chorus, but I've not even gotten close.

I've not been able to find anything on the web but the chord tab, and I'd even be happy with a good approximation if you've got one.

Anyone?? Thanks in advance

hey!

i forgot all about this post. sorry to sya i've not gotten anywhere with it. i recently bought communique on cd so i'm gonna SIT DOWN AND FIGURE THIS OUT! i suspect you are right about the alternate tuning, but i hafta confess i have little inkling how to prceed along that path. it's such a tasty little thing and i've tried all sorts of inversions but they never seem to voice correctly. then again, mark is a pretty good player so maybe it's just his mojo...:>/

Hi guys,
After a lot of research and observation (mainly at YouTube) I was able to find out the tunning/capo combination used by David Knopfler in Wild West End.
It's the classic Open G tunning capoed at the 7th fret.

I haven't tabbed it yet, but if any of you guys want it send me an e-mail to homero.junk@gmail.com
As soon as I have tabbed it I can send it to you.

Homero
