So, it's supposed to be XX434X? Bmaj7, D#m and a few more. I'm sure others will chime in.

Yes, it's much simpler to use notation like xx434x -- which also tells us what, if any, strings are open. Or you could post a picture of a monkey playing it!

Those three notes are Gb Bb and Eb. Since it is a triad, I wouldn't call it anything more complex than an Eb minor chord, without more context.

Big Daddy....correct you are, sir about the triad. My apologies...I have had too much caffeine and am way off base. The chord I was thinking of is
xx3230. I need to be playing air guitar with the other ape in post #1! LOL THat way, my mistakes wouldn't be heard or even seen..... |

In for a penny in for a pound! xx3230 can't be a FMaj9 because there is no ninth. As an F chord, it's a FMaj13 or FMaj7/6. Among other common names, it could also be a Dmin(add2).

F# - A# - D# or Gb - Bb - Eb. I'm not seeing a Gmaj7 here.

Yeah, my cousin in the pic in post #1 is playing a major 7th chord. Some might want to expand the debate and call it a ?minor/6, but my cousin is a simple kind of guy.
The sub-thread ...xx323x as drawn not xx434x as noted in post #4.....is another topic. F#6??? By the way, I looked at the drawing for mymistaken analysis, which took me to that F chord...whichI have editted. Looking at the drawing...xx323x....I call it a F6. At xx434x...F#6? |

Sure the photo is amusing, maybe even funny but there is a story behind the photo that is hearbreaking.
Apparently he was supposed to be in the original Monkees but he could never remember his lines. Also his personal hygiene made it very difficult for the other band members but the final blow came when it was pointed out to the producers that he was in fact a chimpanzee and not even a monkey. He was fired. From there it was a series of dead end jobs teaching guitar in musty back rooms of countless small town guitar shops up and down the east coast. He could never hold a job for very long and finally he drank himself to death with banana daquaris. Poor sad furry bastard.
