Problem fingers!!

I have this condition whereby, after a fairly hard session of playing (10s) my fingers become very painful due to the nails and the skin under the nails being forced apart (normally by bending the strings) I just wonder if any of you have experienced this painful playing related condition. It is very painful for about two days during which time playing guitar is virtually impossible. I have been told that plain old fashioned simple vinegar is the answer to toughen up inbetween nail and finger tissue. I'm going to try this regularly and see. Any fellow sufferers??

Not since I was a kid and my first guitar had an action that was about 3/4 inch above the fretboard.

This sounds like a technique issue to me. My colleague Telex has a good point, if the guitar is playable to begin with, it's got to boil down to physiology or technique.

+1 ... lower action, lighter strings ... and use the least amount of pressure possible to fret and bend ... when i played a lot more than i do now, i had to trim the callouses from my fingertips ...
