a useful transposing aid

I found this page pretty useful for transposing songs that are taken from the internet:

http://www.logue.net/xp/

you paste in the chords/lyrics (frequently incorrectly referred to as tab), and the program changes the chords to your desired key. it will do Nashville numbers too, to a certain degree.

There are limitations, but for a free resource it is pretty useful.

I know there are many who discourage this sort of cheap-and-easy solution, and encourage learning to do this on-the-fly. I wish I was that good! But sometimes we need a simple solution.

I have been trying to learn 45 songs in a short period of time so I can fill in on bass with a band that has been together 18 years. I need all the help I can get, and this was useful for me.

Just did a quick test, and it works.

Could be a fine teaching tool for learning to do it on the fly--I like it, and I'm going to play around with it. I admit, me being me, I'm going to see if I can stump it.

Oh wow, that is awesome. I've been trying to learn the Nashville Number system, thanks for sharing. This looks to be a big help for me

Jerad, that theory stuff I posted in your double stop thread is the Nashville numbering system. If you learn that you'll know NNS.

It's S Q U I E R! Not Squire. Look at your guitar!

The Wikifonia site has a cool transposition feature (there on the top right-hand side). Their music must be stored in some neutral format, because you can change the key on the fly and the page rewrites itself.

I know, I mean it this as a practice tool to help with that. And for copying and pasting my own songs into Nash #'s

Trust me, I learn in odd ways that don't make sense
