Lessons and rates

I know this is a general question but what is a resonable range of hourly rates to pay for 1:1 guitar lessons. This would be with a pretty well accomplished professional in the NY area and the lessons would be at a fairly advanced level. I've never taken lessons and feel like I need to get a series of 1 hour sessions under my belt to get to the next level. Thanks

I study with a well known performer/teacher in Boston. He charges $45 for 1/2 hr lesson. I would assume in NY the price would be similar or higher. It also depends on how well known your teacher is as an artist/teacher.

Here in Houston, Texas

I found a solid full time musician at a rate of 35 bucks an hour.

I found some others that run about 75 a month, for 4, half hour lessons.

I think it depends on the guitar teacher. Most music store guitar lessons are relatively cheap, as they are usually geared toward children and absolute beginners. However, if you're looking for more advanced lessons from well known musicians the cost is going to go up.

Depends on Location and experience

from what I have found, teaching rates depend on what location your teacher is in (NEW YORK and CA differ wildly from Texas) When I was in Texas I found lessons in Abilene for 5$ per 30-45 minutes. In San Francisco bay area it varies from 15$ per 30 min lesson up to 30$ per 30 minute lesson and thats for local no name teachers (like me I charge 25$ per 30 minute lesson and thats not cause I have a gold record or anything but because I teach in a very upscale area) Teachers who have experience get upwards of 50-100$ per lesson!
