I remember when I was in my 20's they asked Steve Vai which guitarist he listened to when he wanted to be blown away. He said Ted Greene. I immediately bought all Ted's books. 20 years later I'm not 100% through a single one. Utterly brilliant cat, easily one of the most erudite guitarists and educators of our time. Will be missed.
