Anyone have Gatemouth Brown's Okie Dokie Stomp tab? Thanks!

Fairly certain its just mostly Eb major 1st position with some 2nd position as well, and a few "blues" notes thrown in here and there.
Sit down with the cd, and a guitar capoed at the 11th fret, play first position stuff especially hammer on's and pull-off's and you should start to hear some of it. Its a very tough song, tons of great, great licks, and impeccable timing by Gate. His tone on this one is also one of my favorite tones of all time. Spend some time with the cd though just listening to each lick, hitting pause and playing, you should get some of it. Its more about the incredible timing and sense of swing than anything else. Hollywood Fats also has an incredible version of this in the key of D, and his tone is even better, I think I also prefer his version just slightly over Gatemouth. Two of my all time favorite blues guitarists, its hard for me to choose whose version I prefer. |

PompeiiO, you are asking about some great tunes! That "No Sleepinst'" T-Bone Walker tune reminds me of Willie Dixon's "I want to be Loved" - similar bass climb up from of the one, three, four, sharp four, five.
I don't know how to describe a chord change for guitar through that though, the bass line does it all. Okie Dokie Stomp was played by Gatemouth with a capo, you can pick your key and do waht you want to there....the horn part was tabbed out for me years by some cool guy from Australia, it is the coolest thing I know on guitar........in key of E here --12--12--12--12-- 12-- slide all one fret at at time up to the 4 chord A9 at 17th fret ---9--10--11--12-- 12-- --11--11--12--11-- 11-- --12--11--11--12-- 12-- ------------------- ----- ------------------- ----- the first chord also called the Freddie King chord from his tune Hideaway. this link below might help a little, you can see you don't have to move around much. see Gatemouth in Lightnin in a bottle on youtube as well i bet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6saMwC9zUH8 tomo does it here fred |

Here is a website that you can buy the tab for $4.95. You will also have to download their software for the tab but the software is free.
