I'm just beginning to learn to play the guitar and was wondering what online or book methods are the best. Any recommendations would be nice. Thanks Glenn

I've heard from some people the the Esteban DVD's are very good for beginners. Before anybody shoots the messenger, this is just hearsay - I haven't actually watched any.

I like Mel Bay's Mastering the Guitar. Book starts with the basics but gets into more advanced techniques, and it's a good overview of a lot of aspects of playing. I like this book better than Alfred's or some of the other beginner books, and there are versions of the Mel Bay book with a CD or DVD included--very helpful.

See if there are any YMCA or junior college guitar classes in your area, and pick up a Mel Bay book. These two things will keep you busy learning for a year.
