What does this sound like to you?

So, I was listening to some oldies stuff and I found this song. It's "Gloria" by the Passions.

I thought it would be pretty easy to pick out;but, it's giving me a hard time. The music is so indistinct compared to vocals. It sounds like a typical oldies progressions, though.

I know the first chord is A and the last chord is E in the verse. I think the second chord is a form of C#. As for the third, I have no Idea.

The bridge goes from A, Am, E, E7 twice and then it goes from A, Am, E, to something else.

What do you guys think?

Here's what I'm hearing.

Verses:All the verses are just E - A - B

Except the intro which goes E - A - B - Bb - A - B and then on to the regular E -A - B verse format.

The end of the verse that leads into the chorus goes E - A - E - E7

Chorus:

A - Am - E - E7

A - Am - A - B
> back to verse

I hope the way I've laid it out makes sense to you.

Thanks alot. It's spot on. I guess I wasn't as close as I thought. It's weird, though. The flow of that song just throws me off for some reason. The way it goes in and out of verse and chorus.

For the verse:

E C#m A B

For the chorus:

A Am E E7
A Am F#7 B7

Look around for other versions by the way. The Passions versions is a bit lame.

Although the changes you show will definately work, sound good and are typical for that stye of music the Passions version does not contain a C#m in the verse nor a F#7 in the chorus. Have another listen and I think you'll agree.

You're right. I've heard the other versions so many times that my ears were biased, LOL.

I know exactly what you mean. My ears and brain do that all the time.

I don't know. For some reason, I like this version the best. I think it's because of all that skilled falsetto . :)

I like the Vito & the Salutations version myself, but then I'm a bit biased as my brother was a member. The Manhattan Transfer did it pretty well too.
