Bell Bottom Blues
Does anyone know what key the solo to Bell Bottom Blues is played in? I've been playing the melody line at the 12th fret, which would put it in Em or G, right? But the chord structure suggests it should be in C or A, and the little signature riff is in F.
I'm so confused! Justin |

The song is in C, the chorus ( "Do you want to see me crawl...") goes to A, the solo is in C. The fret you are playing the melody on really won't tell you the key. The little "signature riff" as you called it, is in C, but it is played over F-C-G, which is IV I V in the key of C.

Okay, that makes sense. I figured the song basically was in C, given the C Am, F, G, but for some reason I still seem able to find the melody as if I was playing in G, rather than C. Weird.
Thanks for the help! Justin |

Justin, it isn't just C Am F G. The opening riff is over FCG, I typed it wrong upthread. It goes C E/B (E with B in the bass) Am Am7/G (Am7 with a G in the bass - this can be C/G if you like) F G F C G for the verse. The chorus is A E/G# (this can be a C#m/G#) F#m D E (x2) then A Amaj7 A7 D E (x2) F C G. There are major errors in the chords on the site linked to by TELEkinetic.
