Mudcrutch "Allman Brothers" lick

In the song "Bootleg Flyer" by Mudcrutch, there's a lick that reminds me a lot of the unison playing that the Allman Brothers would hit between sections in their instrumentals. I've figured out what Mike Campbell and Tom Leadon are doing, but I don't have it worked out on the fretboard.

In my playing, I tend to stick to one position. Mike moves up and down a lot. So I can get two of the octaves, but this is a three-octave lick. I know it gets as low as the 6th string third fret G and as high as the 1st string 17th fret A, but I don't know how it moves down. Any thoughts?

It may sound a bit like Allman bros. lick, but sounds more like a Charlie Daniels lick to me!
