ricky skaggs style lick
this lick where you get the small E in the 7th fret and the B string in the 6th and bend it up to the 8th to make a G
what are some examples of this lick? and how do you use it? |

I can't point to any licks in particular. I can only say that what is going on is that the 6th fret on the B is the flatted 7th in the G scale to the 3rd(B) at the 7th fret, 1st string.
Bending up to the 8th..the G on the 8th fret, 2nd string...and then out of that 8th back in to the flatted 7th can lead you into whatever you want to do in that G scale. Skaggs is a bluegrass picker extraordinaire, and if you want to undestand him and his playing, study some bluegrass licks amd music. That is where most of country picking comes from. |
