Help with Beatles/Beck ?

This is one of those 'so simple i don't see it' questions ( I hope ) !!

I'm going to do the old Beatles track 'She's a woman' but more in the vein of the Jeff Beck version from 'Blow by blow', all is well so far both versions are in 'A' and i'm keeping it right there for now but might mod towards the end and things are going fine apart from one tiny section.
Between the verse and middle 8 "She's a woman etc" in the Beck version he plays 4 single notes E - F# - D - A and then onto the C#m and i cannot for the life of me find four chords that sound 'right' over those 4 notes !!!
Of course there are lots that 'fit' musically speaking but i can't fnd the obvious fit for some reason ................... what the heck am i missing here ?, please dont tell me i'm getting 'subtle' in my old age !

Good question!
Here's what "I" think it is ...

C/D - D/E - Ebmaj.9/G - A2/F#

Or ...

C/E - D/C - Bb2/G - F#m11

The bottom one has what I 'believe' are the bass guitars notes(?)

I really have never been able to hear it too well on my recordings, which are vinyl (that I can't listen to right now) and an early CD version which was re-mastered super 'thin' sounding in my opinion.

Class act Klasaine !!, many thanks for that, i can walk an EbMaj7 down to an A6 kind of partial chord thing and still not create a big 'hole to nowhere' which was happening before.

Thanks again, woodshed awaits i think !!
