Video Lesson 4-10-08 The Mixolydian Mode Starter Pack!

I actually have two lessons this week for you guys. The first is continuing on with last weeks lesson on modes with a lesson on the Mixolydian mode:

http://blog.markwein.com/2008/04/10/...dian-mode.aspx

Its just construction of the scale in the 5 CAGED root patterns...we won't get to applications until next week.

To help get ready for next weeks lesson we have a supplementary lesson on Dominant 7th chord tones....

http://blog.markwein.com/2008/04/10/...an-lesson.aspx

You can find the full archive of my lessons and more at http://www.markweinguitarlessons.com

I love your lessons, Mark. I'm still in the process of moving towards chord tones/arpeggios in my solos so the arpeggio reference saved me some work!

RE: "By itself it's a boring sound"

Huh?
There are 10,000 bluesy rock songs over the years in Mixolydian (including maybe every Dead song).
I don't find them boring at all.

I'll clarify that statement a little better next week...

No problem Mark.
I was just giving you a hard time.

I know it must be very difficult to speak extemporaneously, teach, play and record all at the same time.

I've been planning for ages to do a couple of traning videos myself and I have never gotten around to it. When I do, please feel free to nitpick mine.

Thanks!

Part of the fun next week will be dressing up the scale with some "extras" like chromaticism and some triad ideas....
