What is it called?

I found a "new" chord today and I'd like to know what it is.

Augmented 9th? Or if you are including the open strings I think thats an Eaug7.
I play by ear so don't quote me.

You got it Telakaster. Even if you DON'T use open strings it's still an E+7 (Eaug7 or E7+).

It is also a C9+5 (essentially a Caug)

When I play just the four strings it's totally movable for a transition to the next chord. Thanks guys.

alright...so if we're naming it from the C, wouldn't it really be C+(add9) since there's no seventh?...just being nitpicky...

otherwise, E7+ sounds fine to me...just draws attention again to that cool little thing about augmented chords repeating in incremens of a major third...

An "add9" chord is a triad plus a ninth.
So, Cadd9 is CEG plus D.

A "9" chord is a "7th" chord with a ninth added.
So, C9 is CEG-Bb-D.

Pictured above is E-C-E-G#-D-E.

If you're gonna call it a "C" chord of any type it will (1) have to have an E in the bass and (2) going to be some kind of "#5" chord.

It actually is a E7#5.
