Buyer's remorse

Well, after checking around the internet last night, I realized that $125.00 was way too much for this guitar in used condition...I was also not completely happy with the way it played, even though I was entitled to a free set up...

After sleeping on it, I was at my dealer's door when they opened this morning, got a full refund, no problem. I was very pleased!!

This thread inspired me to build a strat using a Bullet neck I've had laying around.

My guitar building from parts works on the CIRCLE OF LIFE system.

I first bought the Bullet to use the neck for a hardtail strat because I was never happy with my Warmoth neck (which I origianlly bought for a trem strat but the body sucked and it's still in my garage and I use it for testing paint)

I eventually made a hardtail strat using a MIM Robert Cray body and neck (sweet neck!) so I didn't really need another hardtail.

I used the old hardtail body to make a Tom Delonge style strat for a guy at the office but of course he wanted the '70 style headstock so I bought a Squier Standard to use the neck. That left me with a brand new Squier body and electronics which I didn't really like (supposed to be sunburst but WAY too red.)

I didn't really want to use the Bullet neck on this one because I liked the Bullet neck and thought I might use it for an inexpensive build for my nephew. So I bought a Jay Turser strat on ebay and put that neck on the Squier Standard body and sold it to a friend of a friend.

The Jay Turser body turned out to look pretty good but I hadn't done anything with it until this thread reminded me how good my Bullet neck was so I finally pieced it together using some GFS pickups for a great little guitar that will probably end up with my nephew. Thus completing the Circle of Life.

I've got a similar Cycle going with my teles. Recently bought a Squire Standard for the neck and now I'm left with a brand new good looking body with an affinity neck on that is just screaming for a different neck...

I don't know what's going on... I bought another Bullet Strat, this time in SB, and the truss rod nut is perfect. The Strat even came with a chrome plated allen wrench (!). I'm about a week out from dismantling the SB so I can get started on the mods; I'll refinish the neck like I did on the daphne blue Bullet, replace the nut and saddles with a GraphTech nut and saddles, and this time I'm going with a tortoise shell pickguard and a pair of nickel humbuckers. Maybe a few other tweeks along the way too. I'll post photos when she's done.

Maybe MF bought out a lot for cheap and their customers are paying for it.

Doesn't matter that much to me, I always wind up sticking on an SRO-FAT neck.

I don't know if it matters, but my daphne blue Bullet came from Sweetwater, and my sunburst Bullet came from Music123.

I lost count of the Bullets have had past 6 ... none had any issues that affected playability beyond a good setup with new strings. The last one I modded, and my personal Strat ...

Thanks for the reply man. I Guess this would be considered my first guitar. When I was a teen I had an Off the wall Cheapo that my parents bought me...I learned how to play a little bit before For some reason I don't remember I just didn't pick it back up and never seen it again? Anyways i'm excited about getting this one. I also just got a Peavey Rage 258 delivered a few weeks ago And Hope these sound good together. P.S. What would you recommend do right outta the box with this squire when I get it?

New strings and a good setup.

Better yet - replace the tuners. Replace the pickups. New strings, a good setup, and yer good to go for stage or studio.

Wanna do more? All new electronics (pots, switch, jack), rewire with neck volume blender, flip the PVC nut for one of Corian, micarta or bone.

I ordered my third Bullet Strat last Saturday... Fiesta red this time. It should arrive next Monday. This one's gonna wind up "coral pink" when she's done. I'll do the same Reranch Fender amber/high gloss nitro finish on the neck as my other two, and probably go with a mint green pickguard and cream covers/knobs. I was thinking about going with a gold replacement trem from GFS (the one with the steel block, which I'll machine down a few milli's so I can put the trem cover on it if I want), gold "Kluson" style Wilkinson tuners, gold screws, gold strap buttons, etc. I'm still debating which pickups I'll go with this time.

will the neck of my 60 classic mim fit to the bullet?

hi guys, i am fighting an attack of sunburts bullet-fever. i have a 60 classic strat and the body is made of many pancakes finished in lake placid blue. if the body of a bullet is made of a nice piece, i could imagine, that the guitar would be a winner, and i could sell all the leftovers ( bullet neck, fender body, bullet loaded scratchplate). what do you think, am i thinking in the wrong direction or is this a good tinker-plan?

My fiesta red Bullet arrived today (Bullet Strat #3 for me). This one is as sweet as my other two (daphne blue and SB)! I can't believe how nice they are for the money. And thanks to Rob, I spoke with Becky today about a set of cream Keystones... $83.50 delivered. ;)

Single coil covers came with the Holy Grails ("aged white"), knobs are a "cream Strat set" from All Parts.

These are the best Bullets made, bare none. 1983/84 MIJ, Squier by Fender Bullet 1's. Way better then the preceedind USA/Korean 1981/82 jobs. (except the wiring)
Sorry boys, I sold them as a pair to a guy in the UK last year. With original cases !
These are my favorite guitars and the necks are just deluxe.

I've had many, many of them.
The 1 I still have is Black with a Fernandes Tele neck and a set of gold Lace Sensor pickups from a departed , but not missed, 1990 Strat Plus.
It's a killer.

Thanks alot gentlemen, I was trying not to buy yet another guitar. Last month I got a great deal on a Light Crust Doughboys Strat. Now I have a Daphne Blue on the way. This should be interesting.

I just got in a "daphne blue" Bullet - but it's definitely a "surf green", not blue. Nice color, though.

Its not the original neck, right?

But you are right, my Daphne Bullet looks more like Surf Green than Daphne Blue.
The Color changes with the light, sometimes more Surf Green sometimes more like "Daphne Green" or "Surf Blue"

The Bulletnecks in Europe are the same Quality like the ones in the States.
I own two Bullets and the necks feel and plays great. I love them, and I love the price!

Those are Fender's stock photos to show off their colors, not an actual Daphne Blue Bullet.

Count me a member of the "Daphne Green" Bullet club, too!

Just for the fun of it, I took my newest Bulltet Strat (which is still in one piece and bone stock) to rehearsal yesterday to see what it sounds like through my Marshall half stack. I didn't expect much, but I've got to say it sounded great and played great too. Now I'm re-thinking swapping out the pups when i mod it... maybe I'll just swap out the white pup covers for a set of cream pup covers and call it good. Very sweet and surfy-sounding!

After reading for months what others were doing with these, I finally just got one of these Squier Bullets for my birthday. I'm thouroghly impressed with what $99 will buy you in a guitar. The frets could use a little dressing, the tuners are total junk (worse than the Squier 51's), but everything else is surprisingly good. I got the butter yellow one, but I'm tempted to order another one in black or blue, or request another for X-Mas.
Look forward to seeing more Bullet projects, modding cheap guitars is where it's at for me.
