My new (used) Squier...pics included.

Here she is a 1999 Squier Standard Series Stratocaster HH in a wierd purple color. I know it looks kind of blue in the pictures but it is purple.

I got it as part of a trade at a local shop just the other day. The story goes like this. A while back I bought a used Gibson SG Special which had a killer sound but, it had a huge neck. Since I have Carple-tunnel syndrome it has been hard for me to play on such a fat neck. For the past 6 months the poor SG just sat around. So, I decided to see what I could get for it.

To make a long story short I traded the SG for a Fender Hotrod Deville 212 and I got the guy to throw in this Strat to seal the deal.

I am really impressed with this guitar. I normaly would not go for a Strat with humbuckers but I figured that since I was giving up my only humbucker ax that I would go for it. Aside from the strange color it really is a cool guitar.

Does anyone know what this color is called? I also included a pic of the serial number so, if anyone has any info (like what factory made it and what thier track record is) that would be cool. THANKS!

EDIT: I added a pic that was taken indoors. For some reason it looks blue outside. But it is purple.

it looks like Fender's Midnight Blue to me on my monitor....perhaps it's a Frankenstein/partscaster w/Squier neck ?

No, it is totally PURPLE. It just looks blue because I took the pics with my cell phone (no digital camera).

I think it's all original because the dates on the neck heel and pocket are within a few months of each other.

+1! In the "Winter 99" edition of Fender Frontline, they call indeed the purple colour on the Squier Standards "Galactic Purple" - colour code 591.

Galactic purple. Thanks.

It is a strange color. I'm thinking of making it look even more wierd by installing a couple of Steve Vai-ish Dimarzio Evolutions (maybe green and yellow) along with a few different colored knobs and switch tip. It's just a thought though.

How well do they stand up to wear and tear?

How long have you had them?
