three saddle bridge on a strat

tele players always say the 3 saddle bridge gives better sustain and tone than a six saddle bridge. if this is true, why do you never see 3 saddle bridges on strats? obviously the tremelo would be an issue, but not every strat has tremelo. just curious...

I've heard that 3-saddle bridges make fine intonation adjustment impossible, since 2 strings share one saddle. But hey, if it works, it works.

Strats can get their tone and sustain from a nice juicy trem block. Now, if you have a strat style body, with a face mount bridge (no trem rout) I think a three saddle bridge would be very helpful, and I've got a Squier project where I'll do that. If you position the bridge accurately, the articulated or compensated barrels, for example Callaham, will intonate fine.
The trick is forgetting the project guitar's original cost - the mods could exceed it easy.

some folks here think a 3 saddle bridge on a Strat is cool
check it out at

If you have the proper 6 saddles to start with, there are no mods involved.
