They're overwound compared to vintage tele type pickups. That means they have less highs and detail, more midrange and volume/output. They'll drive an amp into overdrive easier than vintage type pickups, and will sound a bit more midrangy & dirty. There may or may not be magnet type differences, someone else will post about that.

There's a difference in the output between TS and vintage pups...TS are darker and higher out put...more mids fer sure but they actually clean up good at lower output..the tone knob works better with TS...but the better choice is the CS Texas Specials...there's a big difference in tone between them and any other Fender pup...I have the CS on one of my CS Strats and the tone is awesome.....

OVER RATED
These tex-specials came stock on my custom shop strat and man I didn't like the sound at all so I did my research and put in some second generation Lace Holy Grails pups and my strat was reborn. Texas specials are nothing more than an overwound, noisy piece of cra**
