New 50's Classic Strat! =)

This morning I found myself the proud owner of a brand new, 1950's Classic Stratocaster in Fiesta Red (Pastel orange?) and I love it.

Except for one thing. The pickups are really weak, and they don't get very good distortion at all (not even for Blues, which is what I play) so naturally, I plan to replace them.

I was thinking about Lace Sensors. What do you think of them? Do you have any better suggestions? If there was a poll to change 'Fiesta Red' to 'Orange' would you vote for it? I would

i'm mixed about pups too

My 50s classic has very mellow pups. i have raised them up a fair bit and it has helped a lot for giving mor power. also, the 2 and 4 positions don't do hum cancelling.

i have lace sensors in my other strat, and really like them. a lot of people don't like them. they are very quiet and i find them to be powerful.

i was also thinking about keystones. i've heard n othing bad about them

Congratulations Coyote! I've had my eyes on one of those for some time now.
How about a photo of it?

While lots of folks claim Lace Sensors are too "sterile", I really like them, clean or overdriven. I find them a great all around strat or tele pick up. I favor the Golds most.

I've got Lace Sensors in my Strat - golds at neck & middle with a red in the bridge position. Great for anything - even Judas Priest and Iron Maiden type stuff.

Fralin Vintage Hots. Or Blues Specials. DO that and replace the tremelo with a steel block one thats all the mods it needs to be as good as any Strat

I found the pickups on my 60's classic strat to be weak as well. I changed them out with Keystones and am very happy.

It's strange, I love the pickups in my 60's tele, but the Strat pickups were definately weak.

+1 on that. Depending on the sound you are looking for obviously but the Fralins work great in a Strat..so do O.C. Duffs.

If you are interested in Lace Sensors, I'd recommend you check out the Holy Grail set from Lace. They are hum cancelling, look "normal" and sound really good in my Strat.
Link

I bought mine on a pre-wired pickguard at Aamps.
Bruce does a very nice and clean job.

Best

To Flashback: Thanks!

I actually kind of like the look of the Lace Sensor golds, without the magnets. I like the clean look that they have, they sound great, and guitar players recongize them at first glance: "Hey, Lace Sensors, alright!"
