8-hole vs. 11 - hole pickguard
Do the holes on the 11 match with the 8 holes? I think the 8 holers look a little cheap, and would like to get a 3 ply 11 hole on my sons Strat

I have seen some people glue a piece of wood onto the edge of the control cavity and fit an 11-hole guard onto a 50's body. I'm not overly familiar with the different routing details on Strats from outside of the USA, so YMMV depending on which Strat you are talking about. I don't know if this applies to MIM or MIJ Strats. I know it does on USA bodies. |

check the Warmoth site
The Warmoth site has some diagrams that show the screw hole positions of both types of Strat pickguards, they aren't all in the same places, so most likely to install a 11 hole guard you'll have to drill some new holes, no big deal IMO as the pickguard covers it all up anyway.
