Q for Mark Davis...

...Mark, do you know anything about the newest Am Std strat pickups?

Have a look at the eBay photo I linked in the Duncan SSL2-->Cray thread below.

Do those Am Stds use plastic bobbins on the bottom, and simply push the magnets up to get the stagger (like on Jimmie Vaughan staggerpoles), or do they have a fibre bottom with the magnets flush?

I ask because I'm thinking of tracking down a set and adding a baseplate to the bridge. My guess is the baseplate wouldn't work so well with the plastic bottoms and "fake" stagger like they used by on JV p'ups.

(As I noted in the SSL-2 thread, I'm loking to get away from the strident G pole of the Cray p'ups with their dramatic stagger)

The American STD series is one of the Fenders I have never looked into at all. I dont know much about them because I dont like em hahah.
